Albert J. Solnit, M.D., 1997

Initially trained as a pediatrician, Albert Solnit completed his psychiatry training at Yale and became the first traininee in child psychiatry. As an elder statesman in psychoanalysis and child analysis, Dr. Solnit , was a pioneer in advocating the interests of children in the interface of law and psychiatry. Long time head of the Yale Child Study Center, the preeminent child development center in the nation, he has been a leader representing psychoanalysis to academia, medicine, psychiatry and the community. He has been an inspirational leader of the series Psychoanalytic Study of the Child, a leader of the Association for Child Analysis, and a significant contributor to the literature.
